Everything eventually turns itself
around, new days awaken, new ideas are born and life goes on.
Next week, Peter, the children and I
are heading out to India for a two months adventure.
What was to be my lone trip around the
North of India experiencing the Work Away phenomenon that is sweeping
the world, has turned into a family expedition as we take the
children out of school, with their teachers blessings I must add, to
travelling around Goa and Karnaka.
It has been explained to the children,
(aged 11 and 8) that this is no ordinary holiday. There will, of
course, be time to play and chill but there will also be schooling to
do. A daily Diary will be kept, maths and reading will be done during
the hours that the sun gets too hot for the beach or travel. Evenings
will be spent playing dominoes fives and threes, scrabble, 30 Dice
and other learning games.
History will be learnt as we explore
the countryside, religion will be discussed and debated as we enter
some of the numerous and varied temples. There will be yoga, morning
walks, story time in the form of the Hobbit, letter writing plus
creative arts and crafts as we turn the mornings gleanings into
decorative mobiles and objects de art.
We also have the challenge of learning
French as a family in anticipation of next years excursion to
Morocco!
This will be an adventure like no other
I have experienced to date. My children were nearly grown when we
entered the world of exploration as opposed to holidays, a world they
embraced and continue to channel. This time I shall have younger
children with me, this time a certain routine and discipline will
accompany the awe and wonder of discovery.
This trip will be as new to me as it is
to them ….. and it begins on February 25th.
