Part VIII
Kerriann has been trying to write about the various diving centres based on Moorea. To assist her research she had decided to do one dive with each of the centres while Lisa was visiting. Their fist dive was with TOP-Dive Bathys out of the Hilton. The Hilton could not do a pick up, so leaving me in the safekeeping of the dogs, they cycled off at 7am.
They returned just after lunch with tales of an 'entertaining' dive. They had eventually dived out of the Intercontinental and had driven past the house TWICE! But they had had fun, they had seen black tip sharks and turtles and even a lemon shark in the depths. We got Kerriann's book out again so they could show me what they had seen. Their next dive was in 2 days with Scubaputi and I was invited to go with them this time as they felt I would enjoy the boat rides and I could see first hand what the dive involved.
Leaf collecting had been abandoned that morning as the girls had left early for their dive. Together we quickly picked up the majority of the leaves leaving the bottom of the garden to the next day. Lisa found a tiny lizard amongst the leaves and we all peered at it as Lisa held it quietly in her hand before releasing it.
Lisa breeds Geckos in the UK and is perfectly at ease with these quick moving tiny creatures. This was my first experience of them and I found them quite fascinating!
Lisa also saw a Tupa out in the full heat of the day but it ran into its nearby lair before she had time to catch it!
The sun was getting quite hot as Lisa caught another tiny lizard, I tried to hold this one myself but it was just too quick and disappeared into the grass.
Jan and Ron had invited us out for dinner in the Mayflower and it was with great delight that we dressed to go out that evening. The mayflower has an amazing reputation and you normally have to book weeks in advance to get in. the tables.
The girls tried to put flowers in my hair too for the event but they didn't stay in very well.
We were shown to our table and given menus, it was then that in dismay we realised there was nothing on the menu that Lisa could eat!! Lisa is a strict vegetarian who doesn't eat eggs. All the vegetarian dishes had EGG in them!!
Jan talked to the waitress, the waitress talked to the chef. They could make her a salad?? Our orders were arranged and we settled down to await our food. Lisa jokingly put me into her water glass asking if I wanted a quick swim while I waited!
The food was delicious and Lisa's salad was huge! We all said very little as we ate, as the food was wonderful and both girls were hungry.
With the main meal over Lisa and Kerriann checked out the dessert page and quickly made up there minds, chocolate cake with chocolate sauce and chocolate ice-cream for Kerriann, and a big bowl of ice-cream with chocolate sauce for Lisa!
It was a delightful mix of chocolate that I eagerly helped them to consume!
Tupa hunting took place that night without the usual enthusiasm as our tummies were full and we were all quite tired. I am sure the Tupas didn't mind!
